We are a proud member of the Urban Assembly network!

The mission of the Urban Assembly is to advance students' economic and social mobility by improving public education.

Vision

Through rigorous academic programming and a deep commitment to equity and social justice, UA schools will graduate well-prepared, caring, informed citizens with the individualized support and guidance they need to maximize their potential and succeed in their postsecondary academic and career paths.

The UA network will provide a community of high-quality professional learning for school leaders, teachers, and school staff, using innovative, data-driven, and research-based methods to drive student success.

UA programs will be shared broadly to ensure impact on student outcomes across a variety of contexts, in NYC and beyond.

UA schools are:

  • Open To All Students: UA schools are open to all students. We do not screen based on prior academic performance. If you express an interest in the school and its theme, you can apply to enroll.

  • Small Public Schools: All Urban Assembly schools are small middle or high schools. Because our schools are small, Urban Assembly school leaders and teachers know every student and sustain early, consistent contact with their families.

  • College & Career Focused: UA schools strive to prepare students for postsecondary success by ensuring that they have the knowledge, skills and social-emotional attributes necessary for success in postsecondary education and economically viable career pathways in a 21st century economy. Successful postsecondary planning begins at the earliest grade served at an Urban Assembly school and is infused throughout the school culture to ensure our students will succeed upon graduation.
