Eileen Nova's Poem: I'll Never Forget You

I’ll Never Forget You

As I touched your cold, pale face memories
flashed.

I felt a cold breeze
go through me,
as if you were in my presence.

I remember the last words
you said to me,
“Child of god, I will
always look over you” as
your cold, scaly lips
pressed against my forehead.

I’ll never forget the times you
used to take me to the beach
on Saturday mornings,
from the morning till the afternoon.
We’d just build sand castles,
and stare at the sky
imagining what the clouds
looked like.

I’ll never forget the little jokes
you used to make;
that one joke that never
got old,
“What do you call a fake noodle?”
“an impasta!”
you’re smile brightened up
a room.

Don’t forget about me
I ask you please,
I’ll never forget you.

Whenever I am feeling
down,
I’ll look and see
the moon’s beam
through the trees,
that will let me know
you are happy, and
looking down on me.

Don’t forget about me
I ask you please,
I’ll never forget you.
